      Company History -

Shiltechs past begins with founder Geoff Shilton. "ever since i was a boy, i dreamed of working on Ferrari's, they've always had such a stigma about them".
Geoff started his career in the motor trade with the well known Ford dealership, Sandicliffe, taking in as much knowledge as possible in order to one day acheive his dream of working on the top spec cars. Eventually the opportunity arose to take a position in Ferrari Dealership, Graypaul, then based in mountsorrel and run by David Clarke.
Geoff, now in his element, applied all of his skills and passion to his job, working quickly through the ranks to become both Graypauls chief engine builder, and personal friend of owner David Clarke.
During this time Geoff had the opportunity to work on some of the now infamous cars of Ferrari history "my favourite has to be the 330 P4, i enjoyed every second working with that engine, i also restored a 625 Grand Prix for Eric Stewart from 10cc, what a machine that was!". Geoff's list goes on for quite a while with the many models of ferrari he's had extensive experience with
"John Surtees F1 156 was another i've worked on along with the 250 LM, 330 P2, 250 GTO, SWB, and Lusso, 246 Dino F1 with Stirling Moss and John Surtees, as well as the Daytona Competition".
After many years working at Graypaul, Geoff was then confronted with the offer of a private collector wanting him to work for him personally looking after a collection of historic F1 cars and several Ferrari's including a 308 Race car being raced in the then Maranello Ferrari Challenge. With a passion for racing, he took the offer and set out to build the racing engines he now has a well known reputation for. Years past, and the collector finally decided he was to sell up and move abroad, this leaving Geoff in a very awkward situation, he was faced with a choice, set out on his own, or go back to working for others. His mind was made up which direction he wanted to go, and on the 1st of August 1995, Shiltech Performance Cars was born. Based in Long Whatton on a converted farm, Geoff began building the business he has today.

After years of working alongside Geoff in spare time, Kyle, Geoffs son, joined Shiltech Performance Cars in 2001. Using the knowledge and experience gathered over the years, Kyle dived straight into working on Ferrari's managing it with relative ease as it was something he'd been brought up with. By this time, Shiltech had expanded considerably, leaving the converted farm buildings of Gables farm, and aquiring new premises in Unit 3 Prince William way Loughborough. With driving age now upon Kyle, his interest now expanded further, applying the mechanical knowledge gained to his own cars resulting in his now show winning R33 Skyline, pictured below.
Shiltechs expansion over the years has also meant the employment of other mechanics, but with Geoff's attention to detail and passion for the marque, it meant the search for someone who could meet the requirements was going to be tough. The First mechanic to join Shiltech was Richard Hillier, long time friend of Geoff, and co worker from Graypaul Ferrari. Richard spent 10 years with the company before Health reasons left him unable to continue working, and thus left the company in 2009. Next was another friend, and co worker from Graypaul, Stuart Gray. Stuart began his mechanics career working with Vauxhalls, in 1977, with a small dealership in castle Donnigton. Stuart spent many years working at vauxhall before in 1988 a position became available at the newly formed Graypaul Ferrari in Mountsorrel. Care and attention to detail moved Stuart through the ranks to earn the title of 'one of Graypauls finest mechanics'. As years passed, Stuart yearned for something more, and in 2009 made the choice to leave Graypaul and work for friend and mentor Geoff at Shiltech. "Unlike the Ferrari Dealership network, Geoff, Kyle, and the owners they looked after were just that much more enthralled in what they were doing, they showed true passion in the marque." Stuart is still with Shiltech now, and continues to be one of Shiltechs best, and most attentive technicians.

In the latter part of 2009, it became apparent Shiltech had once again outgrown the premises it was based at, and with the customer base ever growing, another move of location would be required. Searching for somewhere that would be suitable to continue working and give the right impression of who Shiltech are was going to be difficult, but eventually new buildings were found, and Shiltech relocated to its new and current location, Aerodrome close in Loughborough. With 2 completely empty units Geoff would have a blank slate in which to build his new workshops.
