Cosmetic Build - Skyline Project
This page details the long term project R33 Skyline GTST of Kyle Shilton. Since the car is constantly undergoing various changes and enhancements, this page documents its various evolutions since its arrival at Shiltech.
We begin with the collection of the car, in a fairly tired state. The car is steam cleaned throughout, including underneath and engine bay, before the car is put up on a ramp, all areas of corrosion treated, and the underside completely undersealed to prevent further corrosion.
The poorly fitted body kit is removed, cleaned, repaired, and prepared for back filling and re-fitment onto the car. Reapairs are made to the bumpers and other body panels, and new D1 spec front mount intercooler is fitted. The car is then sent for paint and fitment of the body kit.
With the car looking good on arrival back from the paintshop, we refurbish and re-paint the brake calipers, tint the rear lights, remove and polish the cam covers and inlet pipes, and crackle black pint the upper inlet manifold
As part of service as well as to add detail, the timing belt is replaced for a HKS kevlar "purple" timing belt, the coolant and breather hoses are changed for silicone blue, and a clear timing belt cover is fitted. We then further replace the radiator for an aluminium race rad, Fit Blitz MAF cover, carbon wrap the spark plug cover and refurb the wheels.
The exterior is then further detailed with black pinstripe, black trim detailing, carbon AutoSelect Cannards, HID Headlight kit, tinted front indicator lenses, and custom sized front number plate.
